When the mice are away, the cat will play.
Let’s pretend for a second that I am a cat and my folks are the mice. Well, the mice are currently away celebrating their 35th anniversary (congrats to them), so the cat decided that he would play. I decided that I wanted to try to create something new and unique that I had never really messed with before. I wanted to perfect a recipe prior to unleashing it on the masses, aka my family. That is why and how The Grilled Cheese Test Kitchen was created. I hope to return to The Kitchen often to try off the wall and crazy recipes before I cook them for a Sunday Dinner feature and my family.

Ever since I can remember, I have loved grilled cheese sandwiches. Also, ever since I can remember, I have loved to cook. Put the two together and you have one happy Shane. In order to broaden my horizons, I have taken those two ideas and created Sunday Dinners. Every Sunday night, I will create a grilled cheese concotion, taste and then rate. This way I will be able to experience with new ingredients such as various cheeses and breads. I hope this will begin to enhance my culinary knowledge.
Tonight, being the inaugural evening, I went with something simple. The ingredients are not totally out of this world or even weird for a grilled cheese but they are good together. As mentioned, in the future, I will branch out and try other ingredients, some that people may not think of to use on a grilled cheese. Read the rest of this entry »
