Politics & Love: Do they mix?

When I put my lips like this, I want you to kiss me.

This campaign, this election has changed me as a person…forever. Prior to this election, I had yet to be truly involved in politics. Sure, I followed the campaigns, watched the debates and stayed up each election night. However, lots of Americans do that every four years. That is nothing special.

This year, though, this year was different. Early on, I became wrapped up in the political winds of change. At the start, I backed John Edwards. Once he bowed out, but prior to the revelation that he is unfit to be president, I began backing Barack Obama. From there, my interest in the campaign and the Democratic candidate increased 100-fold, if not more.

I have always been a Democrat and always have backed Democratic candidates. However, this year, I not only backed Obama with my vote, I backed him with almost $100 in donations and the action of knocking on 80+ doors; my first time ever donating and volunteering. The political ideals in me have solidified for the first time ever. Read more…

My Blog: Old Design

My old blog design, shown above, is no more and I blame it all on Smashing Magazine and their 50 Beautiful Blog Designs article. After reading this article and ooh’ing and aah’ing at all of these amazing blog designs, I decided it was time for a change. A change to something less boring and hopefully more interesting. I know this new design comes nowhere near those other designs, but you have to start somewhere. Plus, It was time for me inflect some life into this already stale blog. Read more…

The story of how Shane finally purchased Apple’s New iPhone, the iPhone 3G

It is now a week after I was finally able to purchase an Apple iPhone and I could not be happier. Sure, I am a tad worried about the battery, but these days, who isn’t?

Anyways, it all started one and a half years ago. Er wait, it actually started way before that. Even before the original iPod. Way back when I became addicted to the company we have all come to love: Apple. Someone recommended visiting MacRumors.com for the latest company news and the rest is history. I have not stopped following them since. Although I have only purchased three’ish computers, one iPod and now one phone, I am one of Apple’s and Steve Jobs’ biggest fans.

Enough of the really way-back past. Let’s fast forward to just last week… Read more…

An open letter to the City of Solon, Ohio

Light & SignEvery weekday afternoon I drive on 422-East, take the Harper Road exit and turn left. Every weekday afternoon, I notice that the red light is extremely long while the green light is extremely quick. Every weekday afternoon, people do not want to wait through the first red light, and definitely do not want to wait through a second one. They are impatient, yes, but this is a long red light.

In order to avoid that second dreaded red light, they follow closely to the car in front of them, hoping that will be the difference between being legal (yellow light) and breaking the law (red light). Even when there is a red light, some still continue to dangerously travel through the intersection simply so they can avoid that dreaded second red light. Read more…

The Dark Knight - New Poster…Now with EVEN more poster goodness!

Another New Poster Below!

The Dark Knight

I was never really a fan of “Comic Book Movies.” When I was younger I never watched any of the Superman or Batman movies. I did see Batman Forever and enjoyed it, but that was about it. When X-Men came out in 2000, it was met with an “eh” by me. Spiderman? Yeah, they weren’t bad, but of course ended up going downhill very quickly. (Can anyone say emo Spiderman?) Read more…

JDate: You are a drug. You are addicting.

45 days ago I made a conscious decision to leave JDate.com behind and move forward. Delete my profile and say goodbye. I believed I was over online dating. I believed that I no longer needed “a crutch” to find her. I finally realized that I am (and have been) a good catch and could find an attractive, young lady to go out on a date with…without the help of the Internet.

Even with this new found self-esteem, 45 days and not a week goes by without me thinking about the site or the possible missed opportunities. I have pondered many times about returning simply to look. I have pondered many times what females have signed up in the days since I left. I have pondered what I could be missing. Read more…

Prime

There are many definitions of the word prime, some dealing with numbers and grades, others dealing with the canonical hour (~6 a.m.) and even others with a comic book character. However, none of those definitions are the reasons I am writing about. Sorry, a Transformers post will have to wait for later.

These definitions are:

“The time of maturity when power and vigor are greatest”

“Being at the best stage of development; ‘our manhood’s prime vigor’- Robert Browning”

I am glad I only visit Westlake for work…

…and wasn’t lucky enough to go there for high school as well:

The easy way out would have been to tell the graduates of Westlake High School that the misspelling on their diplomas was a final test.

A test. Yeah, that’s it.

Instead, Principal Timothy Freeman fell on his red pen, shouldering responsibility for the diplomas issued to 330 Westlake graduates at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland on Saturday that read board of “educaiton,” not “education.”
