Real & Framed

Way back when, on April 3, 2007, I began a project that I called A Photo A Day with the photo above. The concept was extremely simple: take one photo each and every day. That ran on for months and even over a year. I did not miss one day. I really did have great discipline…making sure that everyday I had taken at least one photo. Read the rest of this entry »

The New Design. Again.

Posted by shane On April - 5 - 20081 COMMENT

If you have visited within the past couple days, you have probably noticed the brand spanking new design. Sure I recently changed it, but in my opinion, it was too blah, too boring. It did not have enough of me. I simply took an already created design and went with it, never adding any of my own little touches. However, with this design, although I started with an out of the box solution, I have been tweaking it to make it better, to make it mine.

The footer says “personalized by Sanford Kearns” not only because I will be adding my own flavor with words, but also with design. One new touch I am excited about is the FlickrRSS located at the top of the page, underneath the title. These images are the 9 most recent photos from my A Photo A Day project, which is now officially over a year old. I will be uploading new photos very soon, making sure that those 9 images change much more often.

Other design changes will be coming soon, as I continue to make this design match the words it showcases. I still need to find my voice, but I believe I will always be searching for that, as I grow up and mature. I have been wondering what to focus on when I write, but maybe I can take everyone on a journey of life, through my eyes. You see what I see. You experience what I experience. Sounds like a plan…but who knows?! Maybe I will just change the focus of this blog to France!

Not really, but hopefully you understand. This blog has always been a smorgasbord of ideas and it will continue to be that. I just hope that in the process, you keep reading and enjoying. And don’t forget, feel free to leave your two cents below, in the comments section. I would love to hear what you have to say.

More A Photo A Day.

So I love my macro lens and nature…what else is new? Ha.

Uh-Oh!

My poor mom ran into the stove and this is our quick fix until the stove man can really fix it. Good ol’ duct tape.

Spice of Life

Peppers are really cool close-up.

As I wait for mom, I took this picture. I find it cool, I hope you do too.

A Super Bowl Tradition

Every year, for the Super Bowl, the folks and I make a fire and cook food on it. This year I made the fire with them and enjoyed it, but then headed over to my sister’s to watch the Super Bowl with her, my brother-in-law and Nate the Great. A good time was head by all.

I'm on my way...

This fireman is on his way to put out the fire from the Super Bowl, it did get a little out of hand…

Super Tuesday – what a day!

My first initial in lights, pretty cool, huh?

A Photo A Day: Back on Track, New “Image”

Posted by shane On February - 3 - 2008ADD COMMENTS

After some delays, lack of updates, and multiple blog designs, the A Photo A Day project is back on track. What do you think of the new digs?

Photos are now being updated very quickly for everyone to see, with most photos receiving their own blog entry, courtesy of Flickr.com. Photos are being viewed in their natural ratio, instead of being stretched or squished to fit into a certain design scheme. Photos are displayed in all their glory to be enjoyed by anyone and everyone. Hopefully you have returned to the blog to see all of this in action.

On the topic of a recent photo entitled Contemplation, most everyone did guess correctly what was different about me: my new specks (aka glasses). People did mention my hair, which is getting long, at least in my book, so I actually combed it and therefore it has somewhat of a different look. Besides mentioning the glasses or hair most people said I looked angry, which I most definitely was. However, I was going for a different look, something that wasn’t 100% happy, maybe something a tad dark. Instead of smiling, or trying to, I merely stared directly in the camera and arrived at that expression.

Since the photo didn’t really turn out “dark” or “somber” on its own, according to my own rules, I could not touch it up if I wanted to use it for A Photo A Day. I could however, touch it up for my own enjoyment and that is what I have done. Please keep in mind, these were very quick studies and could probably be enhanced.

You can view the two photos below, one being really dark and one not so dark. The dark one has my name and web site address included in the photo, while I left it out of the light one. Please let me know what you think…

Everyone thought my previous self-portrait, although very well done artistically, was somewhat angry or sad. Therefore, I set out to do something happy, funny, something not so angry.

Although the photo didn’t turn out as well as I would have hoped, it is a start, and is definitely not angry. I decided to include Little Foot in the photo with me, he makes everything and everyone happy! He told everyone that is viewing this photo that he is available for other photo shoots that you may use him in. However, he does charge a lot…I mean, he is a famous movie star!

You & Me

When there is a news van at the local store…

Breaking News?, originally uploaded by Imagine24.

…you have to stop and take a picture, don’t you? Well, maybe you don’t, but I do and I did.

Why this CBS 19 Action News van, and a police officer earlier in the day, were at Johnn’y Beverage in Westlake is still unknown. However, I believe it to deal with the heavy wind gusts that occurred overnight.

Maybe the wind blew over some alcohol bottles onto the floor? Who knows?! I don’t, I just know that I liked this photo and so here it is…enjoy!
