Sometimes, you just know.
Sometimes during work your mind wanders. It begins to think that maybe this is the time to change jobs. Then, minutes, or even seconds later, your mind comes crashing back to Earth and you realize that it is simply a rough day but you will prevail; work isn’t really that horrible.
I have had many moments just like that. Many moments where I was ready to walk out the door only for me to realize sometime later that I have a great job and there is no reason for me to leave…yet. Sure, in the past, I have randomly checked Monster.com or some other job web site just to see what new jobs were posted but I am still a webmaster in Westlake. I never truly bit.
Well, my thoughts have changed. They seem different now. Yes, I have had a few rough days this week. Yes, I have bounced back and become stronger because of them. However, as the title of this entry suggests, I know it is time to truly start looking for other employment. It is time for me to move on and begin a new chapter in my life. This is my first “real” job out of college and it is time for me to grow. Being a webmaster has definitely treated me well over the past two years. However, at the same time, it has also caused me pain and heartache. Everyone should love their job and right now, I am only 50/50. That is a good sign hat it is time to move on.
I am currently working on a few large projects that need me so I will not be changing anytime soon. I won’t find a job within days anyway…even in this economy. It does mean that I will be looking more regularly. It does mean that I will be more aggressive when it comes to potential jobs. It does mean a new job is out there for me…the simple question is which one is it?
