75,000 For Obama

Posted by shane On May - 18 - 2008ADD COMMENTS

For hours now, we’ve been seeing stories about the huge lines for today’s outdoor rally at Waterfront Park in Portland, Oregon. It’s now been confirmed that the actual crowd on hand topped 75,000 people (60,000 inside the gates of Waterfront Park, with another 15,000 outside).

Courtesy the Washington Post:

The sea of heads stretches for half a mile along the grassy embankment, while others watch from kayaks and power boats bobbing on the Willamette River. More hug the rails of the steel bridge that stretches across the water and crowds are even watching from jetties on the opposite shore.

JDate, I am so over you.

Posted by shane On May - 17 - 20081 COMMENT

All Jews know about this site while a good amount have actually used it at one point. As most Jews are, they are persuaded by some family member, to sign-up so that he/she could be one of the success stories highlighted on JDate.

My JDate story starts more years ago than I would like to admit (6) when both my mom and sister suggested I sign up. Off the bat, I started talking to someone and then hung out with her a few times. It never turned into anything, but it was definitely a good start. That success was few and far between, even though oddly enough, I ended up in 3 relationships. My first one lasted the longest at 5 months, but as we all know, was an uphill battle from the start. Read the rest of this entry »

I am putting myself out there.

Posted by shane On May - 11 - 2008ADD COMMENTS

Way back when, around 4 years ago, I began writing a story entitled Exit Only. I didn’t write very much, but I believed that I had a good start. For some reason though, I stopped writing, just gave up and forgot about it. I tend to do that…

I haven’t read Exit Only since I last revisited it years ago, and at that point I thought it was decent. Who knows if it still is? It could be horrendous and embarrassment. However, I have wanted to put the beginning out there. I want other people to read it. I want to see what other people think.

So, here it is. Please, comment below… Read the rest of this entry »

I know, I know, a lot of great movies are coming out this summer, including ones that have already come out, Iron Man, but when has Pixar had a flop? Exactly, never. Therefore, Wall-E, if not the best movie of the summer, will definitely be in the top tier!

Below are some updates including YouTube vignettes and hi-res images courtesy of the Internets.

This first video may or may not be official, while the other 3 definitely are. Enjoy them!

This is the story of how a t-shirt with one word on it awarded thousands of Clevelanders and others, pizza for only 23 cents. Were you daring enough to stand in line?

Wiz’s Haywood says LeBron should stop complaining about rough play

CLEVELAND — Overrated hasn’t worked. Now one of the Washington Wizards is calling LeBron James another name: Crybaby.

“I mean, come on man, this is the playoffs,” [Brendan] Haywood said following Monday’s practice. “He wears 23, he wants to be Michael Jordan, I can respect that, he’s a great player. You saw what Mike went through. Mike got fouled way worse than this. No one is trying to hurt him, everybody is trying to play basketball, trying to play tough. Play basketball and leave it alone.”

Whoa: Chilean Volcano Eruption Photos.

Posted by shane On May - 8 - 2008ADD COMMENTS

The following photos display a lightning storm above an erupting Chaiten volcano. If I had the opportunity to take these photographs I would probably shit my pants. They are simply unreal. Even the eruption photos are simply gorgeous.

My favorite is the 4th one, which has the gorgeous blue sky and the bright yellow of the sun plus the huge cloud of ashes. Wow. Just amazing…enjoy. Read the rest of this entry »

Mac:Pc::Iron Man:Batman

Posted by shane On May - 4 - 2008ADD COMMENTS

Everyone knows I love Apple and well, my love for the new Batman movie has not been hidden. I have yet to see Iron Man but plan on it since it is getting rave reviews and made $100+ million this past weekend.

With all that said I just found, courtesy of Digg, a hilarious parody of the Mac/PC ads staring Batman and Iron Man. It has to be one of the better parodies that I have seen. I highly recommend that you hit play below. Read the rest of this entry »

…I don’t know what to say. This movie best be good because the trailer sure makes it look like it will be. I am crossing my fingers that The Happening will be better than Lady in the Water and M. Night will finally redeem himself as writer/producer/director.

What? I can dream, can’t I? Read the rest of this entry »
