~21 inches. Part 2.
I thought that Part 1 of this story was not long enough so I present you with Part 2, which will be considerably shorter. Last time I left you it was Saturday, March 8, 2008 and the snow had finally stopped at ~9 pm. There isn’t much more left to the story, but I promised you a Part 2, so I will give you a Part 2…
Since I had a snow day on Saturday, which was odd enough in of itself, I of course couldn’t have a snow day on Sunday. Before I could even wake-up, Nordstrom and my boss were on the phone asking if I could come into work since someone had called off. After throwing a quick tantrum, I calmed down and returned to Nice Shane and agreed to come in. I did leave my boss to fend for himself just one day prior, I couldn’t do it two days in a row…especially when the sun was out and I could actually get out of the driveway. Well, I could get out of the driveway once I cleaned off my car. Again.

The snow had stopped falling over 12 hours ago, but the remnants of the snow and snowplows could be seen up and down the street. Mounds of snow were everywhere, some taller than myself. It was definitely a sight to be seen. Even with the sun shining, and the snow staying in the sky or on the ground, there was plenty of clean-up to be done.

Around 11:35 am, I was finally able to truly leave my house for the first time since Friday night. Sure, I left my house on Saturday but I came back just as quickly as I left. The roads were in pristine condition, with them only being wet here and there. It was amazing what the plows were able to do with time.
When I finally arrived at Nordstrom, I was literally blown away by the amount of snow that was piled up. It was unreal. Of course, I had to stop and document the snow piles. There was even snow left in the parking lot where I normally park when I am a customer. (I should have taken a picture of that as well.) Nordstrom and in turn Beachwood Place almost had nowhere left to put the snow. A co-worker who saw me photographing the piles joked that I better be sending the pictures to somewhere warm. Well, Scott, this photo is for you!

After taking photos of the snow pile(s), I went in and got to work. Only 24 hrs earlier I couldn’t get out of my driveway; what a difference a day makes. I joked to my boss that it would be funny if we made less money than Saturday, but thankfully, that was not the case. I ended up being the only cashier there and therefore it was a somewhat long day. I finally left at 6:15 when I decided to take more photos of the snow mounds and equipment used to move said snow.

While taking these photos I noticed Mall Security heading my way. I knew they would have some sort of issue with me taking pictures of the snow, but I was not doing anything illegal. I do not think there is a law that says I can’t take pictures of snow mounds. The gentleman pulled up next to me and asked what I was doing. I told him I was taking pictures of the snow. He then decided to ask me, “You don’t have snow where you come from?” My answer, “Not this much.” After ~21 inches of snow fell in Solon and Beachwood, he proceeded to ask me if I had ever seen snow? I’m sorry, but as far as I know, we don’t really see 21 inch snow totals very often, documentation is a must.

He called it in to wherever mall security is and the person on the other end said as long as he isn’t climbing the snow mounds (seriously?) they had no problem. I said I was not going to be doing any climbing anytime soon so he left me alone. Interesting exchange to say the least.
I finished taking my photos of the snow that I had never seen before and then headed home. I took a walk down our street with my mom, snapped a few more photos, shoveled some of our driveway and then sat down to watch the movie Disturbia. That is how this crazy, snow-filled weekend ended. Here is to another 21 inch snowfall next Winter.

That mall security dude needs to realize there may be someone out in CA who appreciates the updates while he’s away from Ohio!
Wohoo for me getting mentioned here! Made my night..
