I have great friends.

Living here in Cleveland can become very lonely. Sure, I have my folks, sister, brother-in-law, and most of all my nephew, which is nice, but they aren’t my age. I do have a couple friends here, and I greatly appreciate their company, but I miss my college friends and doing the little things we did while in college. I have a group of friends who will remain in my life for a very long time.

Some people say they like high school better, I liked college better and every once in awhile, I miss it. (The people, not the work, I will never miss homework.)

This past weekend, I ventured down towards Dayton, Ohio, to celebrate my friends Tim and Meagan’s marriage. They got married in Greece, we partied in Ohio. On the drive down to the party, I decided to have my left arm near the window the whole way. My left arm is now paying the price with a nice sun burn. It feels wonderful!

On Saturday afternoon, from 2-8 PM, I sat outside with friends and chatted the day away, literally. Somewhere in there, I put my feet in the pool, ate fruit/vegetables/hummus/2 pieces of yummy cake, got more sun burnt and listened to a couple toasts. And oh yeah, I saw a grown man in a kilt give a speech, never thought I would see that. I did not realize it was 8pm until Kyle and I got in the car to head to Emily’s mom’s house. The time flew by and it was a blast.

Saturday’s photo comes to us courtesy of the happy couple, as they prepare the cake that they would then feed to each other. Although it is a little dark, it is still a very cool picture. The joyous couple looked so happy together and they are going to have so many exciting years ahead of them.

Happily Ever After

After the party, Jessica, Emily, Erin, Kyle and I traveled to Rusty Bucket for dinner. There we had a great meal and a waiter who slipped into an Irish accent every once awhile. Upon prodding, he told us he was in Ireland for a month and that is where his accent originated from. Discussion ensued as to if the waiter was telling the truth, the consensus, I believe, was that he was in fact not.

To end the night, we picked up ice cream and headed back to Emily’s mom’s house. Her mom took a play out of the Sandy Entertaining Play Book and had brownies waiting for us, just wanting ice cream to be plopped on top. We sat outside, heated up the chiminea, ate and reminisced about college times gone by. It was great just to hang out with friends that I hadn’t see in forever. Although we only partially caught up about the present, it was nice “hanging out.”

We completed the festivities on Sunday with a homemade breakfast (eggs, hash browns, cinnamon rolls and YUMMY bacon, ha. Emily’s mom was a great hostess!), and a trip to K&W, the local ice cream hang out. The visit made me want to open my ice cream shoppe even more. There, I ordered a mammoth chocolate-marshmallow-hot fudge milk shake that I still haven’t finished. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit, as hometown hang outs are a blast, plus I was able to eat more fried pickles and deep-fried Oreo’s!

Sunday’s image is a lovely photo of Kyle chomping down on a lovely deep-fried Oreo. He had already eaten one or two cookies before this photo, but I was ill prepared and therefore my photos were blurry. I forced Kyle to eat another, and that is when I snapped this lovely photo.

'Delish'

I would like to thank Jessica for the company on the trip down from Columbus and the trip back up. I would like to thank Tim and Meagan for inviting me, and for their families for putting on a great get together. I would like to thank everyone else for just being part of a great weekend.

It had been awhile since we all were together and were able to hang out like that. Please, let’s not make the long breaks a habit.
